Biography & Career
Sydney Based Miles Thomas is one of Australia’s first call session musicians, from an orchestra, singer songwriter, jazz ensemble, modern improvised music, to a punk band.
This versatility has come from working in the studio from the age of 15, both as a studio drummer and a recording engineer. This ability to be “both sides of the glass” has given him an enormous amount of experience playing and tweaking sounds to get them “just right” for the given work.
He has performed and/or recorded with Montaigne, Lior & Nigel Westlake, Japanese Wallpaper, Clayton Thomas & Chris Abrahams, Ronan Keating, Clare Bowen, Timothy James Bowen, Peter Evans, Dale Barlow, Gerard Masters, Brett Hirst, Hamish Stuart, Bec Sandridge, Guy Sebastion, Dami Im and many many more, as well as the numerous film and television cues.
In addition to the session work, Miles also leads several of his own projects, with bands such as Lumberjack (piano trio), Lisathe (instrumental), his “Duets” series (improvised duets) as well as his own singer-songwriter project under his own name.
As well as production work for artists Ollie Thorpe, Ines, Dissolve, Actual Pudding and many others.
